Our diversity is a source of strength and innovation
At Bayshore HealthCare we view our cultural diversity as a strength and believe that our employees' diversity lends itself to a variety of perspectives that help us be more innovative and in tune with meeting the unique needs of clients. We also understand that culture, along with empathy, compassion and understanding, plays a significant role in providing quality care at a time that matters most. For these reasons, we train our employees to:
- Seek to understand, respect and appreciate cultural diversity in order to meet the unique needs of our clients.
- Incorporate questions around culture in our assessment of clients' health care needs.
- Be cognizant of cultural diversity as it pertains to end-of-life care, in order to be as supportive and culturally sensitive as possible.
There are many examples that demonstrate our commitment to diversity:
- Providing diversity training and having a diversity representative at each of our locations.
- Meeting quarterly with diversity representatives to impart knowledge, problem solve and generate innovative ideas around diversity and inclusion.
- Hosting monthly diversity and employment equity committee meetings.
- Including diversity training as part of our leadership development program.
- Learning best practices for racism prevention.
- Working with diversity and aboriginal organizations to recruit top talent from various cultural backgrounds.
