Overview

I’ve spent more than 25 years in the public and private health care systems, and am Bayshore Home Health’s Community Health Advisor. My personal and professional goal is to make a difference in the health of Canada’s aging population, and to be a trusted information source for family and informal caregivers who are providing care to elderly parents and loved ones. This goal is also an important element in my speaking engagements.

I’m an energetic speaker who is passionate and honest about the challenges family caregivers face. My style reflects the fact that I speak from personal experience and have a broad base of health care knowledge. I adapt my presentations to address the needs of my audience and incorporate interactive elements that draw on the knowledge and expertise in the room. My speaking experiences range from teaching nursing at a local community college, to speaking to community groups and presenting at large international corporate conferences. I’m available to speak at public, corporate and association events on topics such as:

  • Family caregiving
  • Home and community care
  • Health management
  • Seniors’ health issues
  • Chronic diseases
  • Independent living for the elderly
  • Social media as it applies to health care

I’ve been interviewed by media across the country and have appeared on CTV News, Rogers Daytime TV, and have an ongoing video series for family caregivers on Daily Web TV. I’ve done interviews with many radio stations across the country, including CFRA News Talk Radio in Ottawa, News 95.7 in Halifax, and am a weekly guest on the From A Women’s Perspective show on Zoomer Radio AM740 in Toronto. I’ve also been interviewed by numerous newspapers and publications, including The Vancouver Sun, London Free Press, Oakville Beaver and Wound Care Canada.
