Occupational Health and Safety Training sessions for the Cornwall/Ottawa region:

All of our training sessions have been scheduled for our Cornwall office, 112 Second Street West.

WSIB JHSC Certification Part 2 - May 2nd

This full day course will cover the required elements to become a certified member of your Joint Health & Safety Committee. You must have successfully completed Certification Part 1 and have a Certification ID number from the WSIB. It does not however have to be in the same sector where you are currently employed. TIME: 8:30 - 4:30 COST: $320/pp

Fall Prevention Awareness - May 9th

Falls are killing us. Falls are among the highest incidents of accidental injury and death in Ontario. Surprisingly, it is not always a fall from substantial height. This 1/2 day awareness session will educate participants on how to recognize, assess, and control fall hazards; how to identify and use the appropriate fall prevention method and learn the legislated requirements for working at heights in Ontario. TIME: 8:30 - 12:00 COST: $80/pp

WHMIS Training - May 9th

Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) training is legally required for all employees who are exposed or likely to be exposed to a hazardous material or controlled product at the workplace. In this 1/2 day training session, participants will be educated on hazard identification, product classifications, and the requirements for labeling, material safety data sheets, and worker training and education. TIME: 1:00 - 4:00 COST: $50/pp

Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP)/Scissor Lift - May 16th

This full day training consists of a morning of theory, followed by a practical hands-on segment pertaining to safe scissor-lift operation in the afternoon. This course covers hazards common to all MEWP types. Participants will learn how to conduct pre-job risk assessments, choose the correct type of MEWP for the task, complete a thorough pre-shift inspection, and how this equipment is defined by legislation. Participants must be trained in fall protection before operating a MEWP. Fall protection is not covered in this training. TIME: 8:30 - 4:00 COST: $160/pp

Safe Scaffold Use - May 23rd

Although scaffolds are frequently used to access the work, they are seldom erected or worked from in a manner that meets legislative requirements. Accidents involving scaffolds are most often of a critical nature. Ensure your staff is competent at safe scaffold erection, alteration and dismantling, and that they are trained to recognize, assess and control the hazards associated with scaffold use. This full day session consists of both classroom and hands on instruction. TIME: 9:00 - 4:00 COST: $140/pp

Health & Safety Rep Training - June 6th

Participants will gain the knowledge required to understand their role and responsibility as a Health and Safety Representative under the Occupational Health and Safety Act. Participants will also learn how to conduct workplace inspections though the effective recognition, assessment, and control of workplace hazards. It is now mandatory that Health and Safety Reps. receive specific health and safety training. TIME: 8:30 - 4:00 COST: $240/pp

Traffic Control Person Training - June 20th

Participants will be trained to protect construction workers and motoring public by regulating traffic flow. Topics include legislation review, personal protective equipment, working after dark, STOP/SLOW sign, job preparation, where to stand, how to signal, directing traffic and communication. They will also use the OTM Book 7 as a reference in class. TIME: 8:30 - 3:30 COST: $140/pp

Forklift Operator Safety Training - June 27th

This full day training consists of a classroom theory session and practical hands-on training. The theory is presented in an interactive format which covers all aspects of forklift safety and operation. The practical training session includes pre-shift inspection procedures while safe operating techniques are evaluated as participants maneuver their way through an obstacle course. TIME: 8:30 - 4:30 COST: $200/pp
