Better care for a better life

Bayshore Home Health acquires exclusive rights to use new wound treatment technology

Mississauga, Ont., December 10, 2008 – Bayshore Home Health announced today it has the exclusive rights to provide advanced technology to stimulate healing and manage pain through an agreement with Mississauga-based Lorenz NeuroVasc. Bayshore Home Health will be the first company in Canada to offer Frequency Rhythmic Electrical Modulation System (FREMS ™) outside of hospitals and other institutional health care settings.

Individuals suffering from a foot or leg ulcer, the impact of a surgical procedure or who require hospice palliative wound care will benefit from Bayshore Home Health’s new service. FREMS ™ treatment is used to decrease pain and healing time, increase tissue oxygenation and improve quality of life for wound care patients. The treatment involves the application of an electrical signal through small electrodes placed on the skin.

“Faster healing and reduced pain are the benefits of this new technology,” says Katherine Grant-Brown, clinical practice leader at Bayshore Home Health. “We will be providing FREMS ™ treatments through our community care clinics and home visits. It’s anticipated the treatments will become an important part of our skin health and wound care program.”

The new treatment will be incorporated into Bayshore Home Health’s best-practice approach to complex wound care cases. The company has a standardized approach to wound care assessment, treatment and evaluation that ensures its clients receive consistent, high quality care no matter where they live in the country.
“We are delighted to be working with Bayshore Home Health,” says Denis Carrier, CEO of Lorenz NeuroVasc Inc. “This new agreement means that patients in homes and clinics across Canada will benefit from FREMS ™ technology to reduce pain and accelerate the healing process.”

FREMS ™ treatments are available at Bayshore Home Health’s community care clinics located in 22 major centres across the country including Vancouver, Mississauga, Ottawa and Halifax.
