Better care for a better life

Bayshore Home Health bolsters professional staff to better meet growing home care needs of Québec community

– Company helps aging population and others who want to take care of their health in the comfort of their own homes –

Mississauga, ON, March 31, 2011 – Bayshore Home Health, Canada's largest provider of home and community health care services, announced today the hiring of a new area director, manager of clinical practice and client service manager along with about a dozen additional care staff for its Québec City office. These new hires enhance the company's focus on providing home care services to local residents.

"The people of Québec need more community health services like the ones provided by Bayshore Home Health," says Bianca Renaud, the new area director for the office. "Our population is aging, hospitals are over-loaded and there are more than two million people in the province who don't have their own family doctor."

Bayshore has operated an office in Quebec City since 1995. Its business focus has traditionally been the provision of health care staffing services to local institutions.

"We offer a full spectrum of home care services with registered nurses who manage caregivers and oversee clients," adds Renaud. "We also adhere to ISO 9001 quality management standards, have been awarded Canada's 50 Best Managed Companies designation for the last five years and have established national clinical quality guidelines and programs – which are things that many other home care companies do not offer."

The new office, centrally located near Laval University at 2360, Chemin Sainte Foy, Suite 390, will operate 24 hours per day, seven days per week, and provide a wide range of personalized home care services including:

  • Personal care and hygiene such as grooming, washing and bathing, basic hand and
foot care, dressing and assistance with eating.
  • Home support including light housekeeping, meal preparation and laundry.
  • Companion services including visits to the home, accompaniment to appointments and support with other activities.
  • In-home nursing care including administering medication, wound and skin care, advanced foot care and pain and symptom management.
  • Caregivers specially trained to assist clients with serious injuries, acquired brain injury, palliative care and dementia.
  • Free in-home assessments and consultations, as well as insurance funding investigations.

"Home care services allow seniors, individuals living with disability and people with a wide range of health care needs to live comfortably in their own homes, while preserving their independence and dignity and enhancing their quality of life," offers Renaud. "They also help alleviate some of the stress families experience as they try to help elderly parents while working full-time and caring for children of their own."

Renaud adds that many people don't understand the scope of home health care services that are available to them or that they have options beyond institutional care. "With our new hires our goal is to make people more aware of home health care and Bayshore's ability to bring professional services and individualized care to our clients in the comfort of their homes."

The new manager of clinical practice is Brigitte Descoteaux, while the new client service manager is Suzanne Soucy.

A free Wellness Clinic will be held on Wednesday, March 23rd from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the new office at 2360, Chemin Sainte Foy, Suite 390. Members of the community are invited to attend. A registered nurse will be on hand to answer questions about heart health and provide on-the-spot blood pressure results.
