local communities

Win an opportunity to donate $5,000 to a local food bank

Mississauga, Ontario., November 4, 2009 –It’s a draw! Bayshore Home Health today announced the start of its 2009 Food Bank Donation Draw open to people across Canada. The company will donate $5,000 to a community food bank on behalf of the winner of the draw.

According to Food Banks Canada, each month over 704,000 hungry Canadians receive food from a food bank. As the holiday season approaches, the need to help people who struggle to prepare their next meal by relying on food banks to feed themselves and their families becomes even more critical.

“Reaching out to the communities we serve will help us to support people in need,” says Mike Krunic, Bayshore Home Health’s Director of Marketing. “Everyone is invited to participate – including doctors, hospital staff, social workers, discharge planners and other health care professionals – to help communities to benefit from this timely donation.”

People can enter by going to www.bayshore.ca. Click on the Food Bank Draw graphic and type the password: FOOD BANK DRAW. Complete the entry form and then wait for the winner to be announced the week of November 23rd on the Bayshore Home Health website. The few moments it takes to enter the draw could result in more food on the table for many this holiday season.

“Through this small act of charity, our hope is to raise awareness of the importance of food banks and the difference each of us can make to help one another,” adds Krunic.

Donation draw Entries must be received by Friday, November 20, 2009.

The 2008 Food Bank Donation Draw was won by Julie Lomas from North East Community Care Access Centre in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario and benefitted The Soup Kitchen Community Centre.
