Bayshore Home Health Rocks the Block

Windsor, ON, April 9, 2010 – Local radio station The ROCK rocked the block for Bayshore Home Health employee Valerie McManus and her co-workers this morning with live music and a chef prepared breakfast. McManus won the station’s “Rock the Block” contest with an entry that praised the fund-raising activities organized by her colleagues.

“Bayshore Home Health is a large sponsor of Hike for Hospice and many other worthwhile events in the Windsor Essex community,” says McManus, Payroll Specialist for Bayshore Home Health’s Windsor office. “Earlier this year we organized a number of fund-raising events to raise money for Haiti. With the help of other Bayshore Home Health offices across the country and the government matching program, over $40,000 was donated.”

To raise funds for Haiti, Bayshore staff held special events around Windsor including Area Director Liz Daniel working as a guest barrista in a local coffee shop where $500 was raised. The office has a long history of fund-raising, especially for the local hospice which is the beneficiary of many of the branch’s charitable efforts including bake sales for Valentine’s Day and Easter, as well as participation in the Hike for Hospice.

“I’m really proud of our branch’s team spirit and the enthusiasm with which they embrace fund-raising,” adds Daniel. “I love telling people in the community that I work for Bayshore since so many of them have a moving story about one of our caregivers.”

Bayshore Home Health’s Windsor office provides nursing, personal support services and palliative care through the branch’s 200 field staff and 20 administrative staff since 1996. Many of its clients are referred by the Erie-St. Clair Community Care Access Centre (CCAC). Bayshore is the only provider covering the CCAC’s Hospice Residential Home staff contract. The branch also does work for Veterans Affairs Canada, the Ontario Workplace Safety Insurance Boards, insurance companies and private clients.
