Better care for a better life

Bayshore Home Health's Burnaby branch wins multi-year home support contract with local health authorities

Burnaby, B.C., May 7, 2010 – Bayshore Home Health has been awarded a 10-year contract with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) and Fraser Health (FH) for the provision of home support services to British Columbia residents. The contract win follows a bidding process designed to benefit clients and help health authorities achieve operating efficiencies.

VCH delivers services to more than one million British Columbia residents. FH provides a wide range of integrated health care services to more than 1.5 million people living in communities stretching from Burnaby to White Rock to Hope. Services of both health authorities include primary care, addiction services, hospital care, mental health and more.

Bayshore's Burnaby branch will provide home care services to people in Langley, White Rock, New Westminster, TriCities and the West side of Vancouver. Bayshore has been working with VCH and FH for many years, providing home support services. Under the terms of the new contract, Bayshore's work with the health authorities will increase by over 50 per cent and the provision of its contracted services will expand into Langley and White Rock.

"We have the infrastructure in place to support the client care expectations of the two largest health authorities in Canada," says Bayshore's president, Stuart Cottrelle. "We're looking forward to continuing our work with them to make a difference in the lives of people in the Lower Mainland area."

In order to service the increased volume of care, the Burnaby branch will be hiring community health workers as well as supervisory and administrative staff. It currently employs more than 600 caregivers and 50 administrative staff, and has been serving the Lower Mainland for over 35 years.

Elissa Kraus Gamble, director of regional development for Bayshore in Western Canada, attributes the company's success to its highly skilled caregivers and advanced clinical services offerings that include pediatric nursing, infusion therapy, and serious injury, wound and palliative care.

"Bayshore's people are what sets us apart. Over the years we have built a team of highly skilled health care professionals in the Lower Mainland who are committed to providing great service to our clients" she says.
