North Simcoe Muskoka CCAC contract goes to Bayshore Specialty RxMarkham, Ontario, July 20, 2010 –Bayshore Specialty Rx and Canada Care Medical have been awarded the infusion equipment and infusion supplies plus the medical supplies contract for North Simcoe Muskoka CCAC (NSM CCAC). The contract was awarded after an extensive bidding process designed to benefit clients in the area. The contract begins on Aug. 3rd for a two-year period with an option to renew for up to two additional years. "This contract means that Bayshore Specialty Rx, Canada Care Medical and the NSM CCAC will be working together to help patients get well in the comfort of their own homes away from emergency departments and other hospital settings," says Sahar Whalen, director of pharmacy for Bayshore Specialty Rx. "People have a more positive mental attitude when they're in their own environment and it's a priority that we provide this option no matter where people live across the NSM CCAC region." Under the terms of the contract, Bayshore Specialty Rx will supply the infusion medications and equipment (such as infusion pumps, syringes and intravenous bags). Canada Care Medical, a specialist in home health care products, will provide the medical supplies such as saline solution, gauze, bandages, and surgical tape and masks. The North Simcoe Muskoka CCAC provides access to health care services for more than 400,000 people who live in parts of Simcoe and Grey counties and the Muskoka District, including the towns Barrie, Orillia, Collingwood, Midland, Gravenhurst, Bracebridge and Huntsville. It works with community health care partners – such as the Local Health Integration Network, physicians, hospitals, Family Health Teams, health care agencies and community support services – and presently serves more than 11,000 active clients.
