Syrian Crisis motivates Bayshore HealthCare employees to fundraise
The employees of Bayshore HealthCare, headquartered in Mississauga, were like many Canadians, moved by the plight of the Syrian refugees.
Beyond only being moved, they became motivated to try to help in a very real way. The over 1,000 administrative staff at the local head office and other offices across the country, held a variety of fundraising initiatives over a month, and were able to raise close to $12,000! When matched by Stuart Cottrelle, the company’s president, Bayshore presented a $23,795 cheque to the Archdiocese of Toronto as it provides relief to Syrian refugee families who will begin arriving in Canada on December 10th. The Archdiocese has pledged to help 100 refugee families settle in the Greater Toronto area through its Project Hope initiative.
“I am very proud of our staff,” said Stuart, “and not surprised by their passion, generosity of spirit and willingness to help. In the past, when we heard news about the disasters in the Philippines, Haiti and Southeast Asia, our staff immediately jumped into action to raise money and offer help. That’s what they do – they want to make a difference.”
Stuart presented the cheque to Arthur Peters of Project Hope on Wednesday, December 9th at the company’s National Development Centre on Hadwen Road.
