Bayshore HealthCare partners with Arctic Children and Youth Foundation to expand access to healthcare in Canada’s Northern Communities

| Press Releases

TORONTO, November 13, 2025 — The Bayshore Foundation, the charitable arm of Bayshore HealthCare, is proud to announce a partnership with Arctic Children and Youth Foundation (ACYF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of young people across Canada’s northern communities. As part of this initiative, the Bayshore Foundation is donating $25,000 to help expand access to healthcare services for children and youth throughout Nunavut, where systemic gaps continue to impact the well-being of vulnerable populations.

Access to Northern Health Services

The Canadian North’s unique landscape and infrastructure create significant barriers to healthcare access. Remote communities have limited health facilities outside major centers, medical staff are difficult to retain, and the high costs of travel and accommodation compound these challenges, making it difficult to deliver consistent, culturally relevant services.

Children and youth in Nunavut face overlapping barriers of remoteness, trauma, and service gaps with many communities lacking access to specialized health, therapy, and mental-health supports.

The ACYF is one of the only charities located in Nunavut serving Northern children and youth, having created a strong network of partnerships with Inuit organizations, government departments and other community organizations.

“Our youth deserve culturally safe, community-based health care that meets their needs, in the areas where they live,” said Okalik Eegeesiak, Chairperson of Arctic Children and Youth Foundation. “The donation from Bayshore Foundation helps us move closer to that goal by expanding outreach and support programs in underserved regions.”

A Commitment to Community

The Bayshore Foundation’s donation will fund ACYF’s community-based clinic, remote health coordination, and mental health support programs for children and youth, as well as training local service providers to strengthen culturally grounded care. These efforts aim to reduce wait times, improve wrap-around services, and empower communities to lead their own health solutions.

“At Bayshore, we believe that every child deserves access to compassionate, high-quality care,” said Kevin Webster, President of Bayshore Healthcare. “We’re proud to support the valuable work of the Arctic Children and Youth in their mission to uplift northern communities and help create more sustainable access to healthcare.”

This donation is focused specifically on Nunavut, where the need is most urgent and will prioritize communities with limited infrastructure and high rates of youth vulnerability, including Iqaluit, Rankin Inlet, and remote hamlets across the territory.
