Bayshore HealthCare’s pediatric program in Burnaby receives highest rating from Accreditation Canada

BURNABY, BC (May 30, 2018) — Bayshore HealthCare in Burnaby, B.C., has been awarded Exemplary Status by Accreditation Canada for its pediatric care program. Accreditation Canada is a not-for-profit affiliate of the Health Standards Organizations and has been accrediting organizations in Canada and internationally since 1958. Their programs focus on quality of care, safety and efficiency.

Most organizations require up to four years to attain the highest level of Exemplary Status. Bayshore HealthCare achieved the accreditation in just one year due to the high standards already practiced on a daily basis with pediatric patients.
“Receiving this from Accreditation Canada is not only a prestigious award for our organization but it sets the objectives for continuous improvement by our staff and prioritizes safety and engagement so that our patients are always served at the highest possible standard,” says, Danielle Wilson, Area Director – Pediatric/Specialty Nursing, Bayshore Home Health, Burnaby, BC.

In assessing the care provided by Bayshore HealthCare, Accreditation Canada cited a number of key factors in awarding the Exemplary Status. They reported that they observed committed and engaged teams, a positive reputation with clients, leadership that is approachable and proactive and a commitment to education through results-oriented programs.

“This is recognition that we are already providing exceptional standards of care,” adds Danielle. “It also provides the framework for continuous improvement and accountability that will ensure our clients continue to receive the latest, most effective and compassionate assistance.”
Bayshore HealthCare was also commended for its compassion and embracing complex ethical issues. It was noted that Bayshore’s accountability process fosters patient care that is respectful, culturally appropriate that is responsive to the needs, values, beliefs and preferences of patients and family members. As family members are an integral part of the care team, Bayshore focuses on a patient and family centred approach to care, providing families the support they need, while encouraging them to be part of the creation of patient care plans.
