Bayshore HealthCare (Bayshore), a leading home and community care service provider in Canada, is pleased to announce it has secured a multi-year contract as a primary nursing provider for northern communities in Ontario, Alberta, and Manitoba.

As a primary provider, Bayshore will significantly enhance the availability of high-quality community health relief support services in remote, isolated, and semi-isolated Indigenous communities in Ontario, Alberta, and Manitoba through its Northern Staffing Division. Bayshore’s focus will be on improving access to primary care services, twenty-four hours a day seven days a week (24/7) in 49 ISC managed health facilities.  Primary care is considered a mandatory or “essential” service, as it has a direct impact on the health and safety of the communities. The initiative also seeks to empower local communities through health education and preventative measures.

“Bayshore has been one of Canada’s top healthcare staff providers in northern communities for more than 20 years, offering services in Nunavut, Northwest Territories, Yukon, British Columbia, Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, and Quebec,” says Stuart Cottrelle, Bayshore President. “We are committed to providing high-quality care services to all Canadians and we are thrilled to support more positive healthcare outcomes for Indigenous communities in northern Canada.”

Since 1997, Bayshore’s Northern Staffing program has empowered nurses, and nurse practitioners to offer primary care, advanced clinical assessments, and mental health services. These services are provided in health centres, nursing stations, hospitals, long-term care facilities, and client homes on temporary assignments in northern, rural, remote, isolated, Indigenous communities.

“I’ve been a traveling remote Registered Nurse at Bayshore for eight consecutive years and really enjoy the opportunity to travel to northern Canada to provide primary and acute emergency care to Indigenous populations,” says Josee Henophy, Manager of Clinical Practice at Northern Staffing. “I’ve greatly enjoyed immersing myself in Indigenous culture, learning to gather traditional foods and medicines, and participating in community events are experiences.”

Bayshore is currently offering several nursing opportunities through its Northern Staffing program, including:

  • Community Health Nurse (RN’s)
  • Nurse Practitioner
  • Licensed Practical Nurse
  • Registered Practical Nurse
  • Register Psychiatric Nurse

“Bayshore Northern Staffing provides comprehensive onboarding, orientation, and ongoing education for all nursing personnel. We value our connection with our nurses, offering dedicated on-call clinical and in-house travel support 24/7,” says Chantal Matte, National Director, Northern Staffing Division. “We provide nurses with flexible scheduling options for a better work-life balance. Our nurses appreciate the chance to travel, learn about new cultures, and deliver essential health care to northern communities.”
