ClinicalConnect enhances patient safety in southwest Ontario
Bayshore’s pharmacy in Kitchener, Ont., has joined ClinicalConnect. This secure web-based portal gives clinicians real-time access to patients’ electronic medical
information from hospitals, Community Care Access Centres and other sources in southwest Ontario.
Funded by eHealth Ontario as part of its “connecting South West Ontario” (cSWO) program, ClinicalConnect bridges regional health care facilities and information systems. Clinicians can view integrated patient data quickly, enhancing their ability to diagnose and treat, and improve patient care and safety.
“It allows our pharmacists to see patient records and make judgments when dispensing medications. If an order differs from hospital records, we can call the doctor and ask,” says Nick Buonincontro, Director of Operations, Bayshore Specialty Rx.
