Bayshore HealthCare Makes Strategic Digital Health Partnerships with GlobalTek and Dot Health to Enhance Home Care Services

Toronto, Ontario (February 24, 2020) Bayshore HealthCare, one of Canada’s leading home and community care service providers with more than 350,000 clients across the country, is pleased to announce two new strategic digital health partnerships with GlobalTek and Dot Health to enhance its home care services. The partnerships give Bayshore’s clients access to home care products and technologies that enable seniors to live independently and safely in the homes they love.

“Bayshore HealthCare is embracing the advancement of digital health technologies in our home care services to empower our clients so they have the confidence to live independently longer in their own homes,” says Anisha Patel, Manager, Product Implementation and Operations at Bayshore HealthCare. “These new partnerships compliment our MyBayshoreCare online platform and provide our clients with the flexibility to choose services and technologies that meet their home care needs, while helping them feel safe, connected and free to enjoy their lives.”

Bayshore’s partnership with GlobalTek allows clients to purchase or lease its state-of-the-art, 3G medical pendant, a light, durable medical alert system that can be used at home or on the go. The pendant can be adjusted as a necklace, wrist band or placed in a pocket. Monitored 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the GlobalTek Life Guardian medical pendant instantly notifies the monitoring centre, which contacts emergency services and family members when a fall has been detected. With built in GPS, their exact location (within 15 metres) is quickly known, and its GEO-fence feature helps family members track movements of their senior loved ones including in and out of “safe” zones, which are especially useful for people who have Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. According to the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI), 51 per cent of all injury-related hospitalizations in Canada were for seniors age 65 and older. More than 137,500 seniors in Canada age 65 and older were hospitalized for injuries in 2017–2018, and of these injuries, 80 per cent were due to falls.

Bayshore’s partnership with Dot Health gives clients access to its real-time personal health data platform, available on all mobile device and tablets through the IOS App Store or Google Play Store. Dot Health allows Canadians to collect, store and manage their medical records from any doctor, hospital, pharmacy or specialist across the country (except Quebec). Through visualizations, a symptom tracker, an in-app dictionary and the ability to talk to a doctor, individuals don’t need a medical degree to understand the information in their medical records. Clients can have all their health information in their pockets, allowing them to easily share their most important medical records , such as doctor’s notes, emergency records, prescriptions and x-rays with family members and healthcare providers.
