Jayne has been a receptionist at NSC since May 2023.

“For a long time, most of my social interactions were with my children,” says Jayne. “It’s nice to be interacting with people and work for an organization that genuinely cares about improving the lives of its clients and employees.”

Born and raised in Mississauga, ON, Jayne’s deep connection to her hometown has shaped her character. She shares her life with her husband, Chris, and two children, Alexa (13) and Marcus (10), and two cats, Emilio and Mollie.

As a receptionist, Jayne’s responsibilities include handling incoming calls, greeting visitors, directing them to the appropriate department, and providing administrative support. This role, which necessitates frequent interaction with people, helped Jayne to reconnect with the working world. Her enjoyment of connecting with others brings a warm, welcoming atmosphere to the NSC workspace.

Among her many roles, she serves on the social committee, where she enjoys organizing activities that foster camaraderie and inclusivity. During social events, Jayne can often be found alongside John Lawrence, Director of the Bayshore Foundation, collecting donations for raffles and 50/50 draws. “I’m a bit of a loudmouth, but it’s effective and gets the job done,” she jokes.

“Jayne’s infectious energy and friendly demeanor make her an indispensable asset for the foundation,” John says. “She is the best advocate you could ask for. Her optimism truly distinguishes her from the rest!

Jayne, along with a few social committee members, recently organized an Easter egg hunt at the Bayshore head office, where the team and her hid 400 eggs for the employees to find. The event was not only a testament to Jayne’s dedication to boost to the overall office morale, her creativity and innate ability to make everyone feel welcome was on full display. The sense of community generated by the event was apparent, further demonstrating Jayne’s impact on the workplace.

“Jayne is always one of the first people to put up her hand to help out with any event at NSC,” says Patrick Callan, Director, National Communications & Public Relations. “She truly goes above and beyond to contribute to the amazing culture of this organization, and we are so lucky to have her as a colleague.”

Jayne is more than a receptionist at NSC. She is a source of positivity and has quickly become a cherished team member. During the 2023 NSC Christmas Party, which fell on Jayne’s birthday, the office surprised her with a cupcake and song. “I had 150 people wishing me happy birthday,” says Jayne. “That memory still brings a smile to my face.”

Jayne’s journey from a stay-at-home mom to a beloved member of the NSC team showcases her resilience and adaptability. Her positivity and dedication to her role continually inspire everyone around her. Jayne’s story demonstrates that it’s never too late to pursue a new path and make a significant impact.
